Vestry Highlights

The Stewardship Committee

Thanks to the hard work of the committee the pledges have increased considerably this year. The Vestry signed a card of thanks to be Dan Charney.

Administration

The Personnel Team consisting of Clare, Cyndi and Louis recommended that the salaries of the employees of the parish, except for clergy, be increased by 3%  in 2012. All letters of Agreement are to be signed. In addition the office staff will each be working ten hours a week beginning January 2012.

There will be no Vestry meeting in February 2012 instead we will meet with other Parish Vestries on February 11th for a Renewal Assembly 9 AM – 3 PM at St. Stephen’s Church in Whitehall.

The Annual Meeting of the Parish will be February 26, 2012 with a snow date of March 4, 2012. REPORTS are due to the church office no later than February 10, 2012 they should be sent, if possible, via email with the report as an attached word document. Those without a computer should give the office a written report as soon as possible.

Property

The mortar has been repaired on the front arch. The water damage has been temporarily repaired; more repairs will be needed in the future.

New members and a chair are still urgently needed for this committee. It was suggested that we put this opportunity for service in the Newsletter along with other ‘needs’ ‘opportunities’ that we have.

All Saints New Kitchen

The goal of a refurbished kitchen has been met and it is truly a success story!  It is with gratitude and thanksgiving that we celebrate the new kitchen.  I particularly want to thank the two people who did the major work in making the new kitchen a reality:  Annette and Gary Muffley.  They worked tirelessly to select, buy and install the cabinets, sink and countertops – and selected the new stoves and refrigerators/freezers. All of this time was donated to the church.  The appliances were installed by Ed Knappenberger’s Appliance store and the two hoods over the ovens were donated by the Knappenberger family.

Hearty thanks also to the ones who prepared and painted the entire kitchen:  Annette Muffley, Clare Fox, Pat Cook and Kayla Kromer.  What a labor of love – this was hours and hours of work also!

If you haven’t been in the Parish Hall lately, make time to come downstairs and see the new kitchen.  It will continue to be at the center of outreach hospitality for the Community Meals and for the Family Promise guests later in the month.  And, of course, it is the center for hospitality in our parish life as well – for parish dinners, fund-raising events and weekly Coffee Hour after services.

I am particularly thankful to Bishop Paul Marshall and the New Hope Grant we received that made the installation of the new kitchen possible.  I am thankful for the vision of all who initiated and made possible the New Hope Campaign to benefit (in addition to Kajo-Keji), the outreach ministries of local parishes in the diocese.  I have asked Bishop Paul to offer a special “house” blessing of the kitchen on his visitation to us on May 6th.

Again, with a grateful heart to all,

Jane+

Journey Into Light   -   Lent 2012

Christians are not people of the cross.
Christians are people of the empty tomb
                                                                        who know that every step
                                                                        on the way to light
                                                                        is Light.

                                                                       - Joan Chittister

Small Group Opportunities this Lent

Come enjoy time with friends as we walk together through Lent – a time of growing into the Light.  Come be refreshed with this group that will explore what it means to be “People of the Empty Tomb” as we prepare for Easter.  You will receive a Booklet entitled Journey Into Light, written by Joan Chittister.

Groups will meet for five sessions:

·         Tuesday Evenings 6:30 – 7:45 PM

                                    Feb 28, March 6, 13, 20, 27

·         Wednesdays Mornings 10:30 -11:45 AM

                        Feb. 29, March 7, 14, 21, 28

If these groups fill up, I will offer another group.

Please register on sign-up sheets in back of the church.  Give yourself the gift of Lenten Community.

                                     Peace, Pastor Jane
